Body Mason is a well established Boutique Pilates Studio located in the heart of Rosedale. Founded by Emma-Kate Millar in 2015. The studio prides themselves on their well educated teachers & small class sizes (machine classes have 6 people in each class + mat classes have up to 9). With small class sizes Body Mason has the ability to give people the comfort in knowing that regardless of how much experience they have in Pilates, they are seen & appropriate adjustments will be made.

At Body Mason,  we are committed to providing you with the best possible Pilates experience. Our goal is to help you get the most from your body: to understand its structure and mechanics, to recognize its unique talents and overcome its limitations, all the while increasing strength, optimizing physical health, and enhancing mental awareness. Through clear guidance and assistance from highly qualified instructors, access to top-of-the-line equipment, and a warm inviting environment—free of judgement and ego— you are better able to work on building a stronger, healthier, and happier you.

What is Body Mason?

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a mind-body fitness workout designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture to bring your body back into balance.

Pilates also offers improved muscle tone, stronger abdominals and spinal muscles, coordination and body awareness. Private sessions can also target and strengthen personal areas of weakness or vulnerabilities and develop more balanced musculature.

Which level should I take?

If you are new to Pilates, we recommend that you book a One-on-One session with one of our instructors to become familiar with the technique, as well as to get additional information about modifications you might need throughout routines to accommodate injuries. The instructor will be able to assess your level and give you a personalized recommendation for a level and class type. If you wish to jump straight into group classes, we typically recommend taking Reformer I Essential to begin.

Essential (I) - Essential is the foundation of the Pilates method and a great place to learn the language, hone your technique and repertoire and learn your personal settings on the different equipment. It's also great for when you are returning to your practice after taking some time off either due to injury, illness or just a restful break. Still a solid slow-burn workout.

Intermediate (II) - Intermediate is the perfect blend of full bodywork while still learning new skills. The pace is challenging while still allowing time for improvement on the finer details of the method. Here we are working for profound changes in our alignment, strength and overall wellbeing.

Advanced (III) - Advanced is for the Pilates enthusiast who knows their way around the machines and small props and is ready to challenge their strength, flexibility and coordination. This class is much more dynamic and fast-paced. The pace does not allow time to teach the basic foundational material, so we recommend you are familiar with terminology, technique and your settings before participating.

I practice in other fitness programs and am very fit, do I still need to start with Essential Pilates?

Yes. Although there is some overlap, Pilates is very specific and the more precise you can be with alignment the better. Also, all of our classes involve some equipment and you need to have a general working knowledge of the equipment before joining more advanced. Again, your instructor can provide more information following your participation.
