A multi talented artist and performer, Karen Andrew has been extensively trained in New York and Los Angeles and is pleased to be re-based in Toronto. Formally trained as an actress, singer, and dancer, Karen's professional accomplishments, span decades and continents.
With countless professional Theatrical, Film and Television credits to her name, Karen is proud to have been an original cast member of the Tony Award-winning Broadway Musical ‘RAGTIME’, and a cast member of the musical 'FOSSE”. While on Broadway, Ms. Andrew performed in concert with Chita Riviera, Julie Andrews, Liza Minnelli, Glenn Close, and Rosie O’Donnell. Karen has also played 'Anita' in West Side Story for the Stratford Festival and has appeared in numerous roles on television and in film including an appearance in the Academy Award wining film 'Chicago'.
Karen has served as a professional dance and movement educator for over 18 years and has most recently served on faculty at both the Randolph Academy and the George Brown College Dance Program. Over the span of her 20 year professional performing career, Karen has consistently offered her skills as a Dance Educator and Facilitator. As Owner/Operator and Artistic Director of Aurora Live Inc. Dance Studios (a professional Dance Studio and Company in downtown Toronto), Karen provided professional level dance and movement education in multiple genres to enthusiasts and professionals of all ages and abilities.
A STOTT certified Mat and Total Barre Instructor, Karen has successfully implemented and integrated Pilates principles into every movement modality she facilitates. Clients and students have enjoyed the benefits of her vast knowledge of movement, the body, breathe and the power of these components working together to create physical freedom.
As a choreographer, CAEA dance captain, Dance Adjudicator, and Arts Educator, the professional dance world has benefited from her vast knowledge and experience of dance and movement for more than 20 years.
